Job Description:

Under limited supervision, relative autonomy, and general review, purchase products based on contracts and requisitions. Negotiate terms and transportation arrangements for merchandise. Analyze and monitor sales records, trends and economic conditions to anticipate consumer buying patterns and determine what the company will sell and how much inventory is needed. Work closely with vendors to obtain desired products. Authorize return of merchandise. Confer with sales personnel to obtain information about customer needs and preferences.. Use computers to monitor inventory, sales, and update information regarding products and planning tools. Provide warehouse with information on shipments and logistics. Provide customer service with solutions on products needed. Work with Accounts Payable on invoice discrepancies. Provide Imports and Receiving with information regarding shipments, delivery terms and freight. Monitor product rotation. Update price lists in the system. Communicate with Sales on pricing and terms. Offer delivery alternatives to accommodate special requests. Negotiate freight. Plan and implement savings budget.

Dynamic team player who is willing to accept new challenges and get things done; Ability to work in a fast paced environment; Organized and detail oriented; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; High sense of urgency; Computer literate: MS Word; Outlook, Excel proficient; Strong knowledge of purchasing procedures and practices; Knowledge of product and service vendor sources; Strong communication and negotiation skills; Ability to analyze varying product and service features, prices and qualities, and determine most cost effective purchase for organization; Ability to use standard office equipment such as keyboard, calculator, fax, copier, etc.



Associate's degree or certification/licensing in a program of 12 months to 2 years duration in commercial work including purchasing and inventory management, preferred; OR One to two years purchasing experience; OR any equivalent combination of education and experience in related field. JE Edwards experience a plus.
